Chantal Carter, LCSW, LADAC, CEDS
Our founder Chantal Carter is a long time resident of the Northwest Arkansas area. She received a Bachelor of Arts in both Sociology and Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas in 2002. She then earned her Masters in Social Work with an Emphasis on Mental Health from the University of Arkansas in 2005. Her graduate studies also focused specifically on preparing to treat people struggling with substance use disorders. Upon starting her career, she continued to focus on substance use treatment through her role as an Assistant Clinical Director in a residential substance abuse facility for drug addicted mothers. Chantal became a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) in 2008. Additionally she is a Licensed Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) through the Arkansas State Board of Examiners of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors since 2016.
Chantal is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and in 2016 became the first Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) in the state of Arkansas. People with eating disorders require providers with training specific to eating disorders due to the mental and medical complexities of those diagnoses. She is passionate about helping others and empowering them to live life at their best. Professionally, she has had the great opportunity to serve as Secretary of the Northwest Arkansas Medical Social Workers and Associates in 2010, and served as President in 2011. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches in her work with patients. As Chantal is licensed in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma she is able to offer counseling & therapy services to adults residing in those states through a secure telehealth platform via live video counseling. Personally, she enjoys cycling and a quiet life spent in nature with her friends, her husband, and their dog Cooper. We hope you contact us with any questions you may have about how NWA Therapy can help you!
